Digital Access in the Classroom

Some school systems cannot provide the students the luxury of allowing all students to use individual technology equipment. Therefore, teachers must make sure that each students has equal access in the classroom when it comes to technology. Ensuring this digital access is equal can be a difficult task, but with the proper tools, students can have a technologically rich environment.

Teachers must know of each individual student’s needs and abilities when they are planning technology based assignments.

Teachers should allow weekly rotations through technology centers and completing online activities.

Students, while working in groups, can change roles to ensure that everyone gets equal use of multiple devices.

Homework assignments or projects that are required to be completed away from school should check for the parent’s permission.

Students can check out devices while they are in the classroom for their use.
